Download a PDF of this Article. If you haven't been on the third floor of The Westchester recently, you're missing out on a colorful new boutique for tweens, their little sisters and even their moms. LittleMissMatched, which opened in the early summer, is all about creativity and self-expression, says spokesperson Kerry Brown and their signature items are mismatched socks that come in packs of three. Manager Vilma Ortega, above, can help
girls mix and match patterens that look as if they are in the same
family rather than being identical. They've got anklets, knee-highs,
sports' socks, and even liners for ballet flats. The store also carries
apparel, accessories and toys. Choose from the classics collection,
which features stars, stripes and polka dots, a New York City-inspired
line with images from the Big Apple, and Disney items adorned by Minnie,
Mickey, Alice and the princesses. Brown says that a lot of places want
to outfit girls in clothes that are too grown-up, but she says,
LittleMissMatched is all about "preserving childhood while it lasts." The company has declared this month "SOCKtober" and will be donating money to several creative projects at local schools. What's more, they've called Oct. 21 National Rock Your Socks Day, and are encouraging people to wear any socks they want in support of the freedom to be your own unique individual.
